What is Vernissage?

Vernissage is used in the art world to refer to an opening reception where the public can view and purchase works of art. Traditionally, a vernissage is held just before an exhibition opens.

This event serves as an opportunity for artists to showcase their work and engage with potential buyers and admirers. When attending a vernissage, guests usually get the chance to meet the artists and ask them questions about their work while they view it in person.

With personal interactions, this event allows people to form important relationships that ultimately help foster an appreciation for art.

The Roosevelt Island Visual Art Association (RIVAA) has been a fixture in the New York City art scene for over twenty years. Founded in 2002, RIVAA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting visual arts on Roosevelt Island and beyond.

RIVAA’s membership consists of approximately thirty-five artists passionate about establishing an art center that celebrates the unique culture of Roosevelt Island. The gallery features works from local artists as well as international artists, giving visitors a glimpse into the creative spirit of this small island in the East River.

In addition to its gallery, RIVAA also hosts events such as artist talks and workshops throughout the year. These events provide an opportunity for members to network with other artists and learn more about their craft.

RIVAA also provides educational resources to help aspiring artists hone their skills and gain knowledge about the art world.

Since its inception, RIVAA has been committed to providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work and make connections with other creatives in the area. This commitment has helped create a vibrant art community on Roosevelt Island that continues to grow each year.

If you’re looking for an inspiring place to explore your creativity, then look no further than RIVAA Gallery! Visit their website or follow them on Instagram for more information about upcoming events and exhibitions.
