A coastal snowstorm hit New York City with strong winds and below-zero wind chills, but Roosevelt Island stayed resilient. Crews cleared streets and sidewalks early, making it easier for people to move around. The tram and subways ran on time, and even with isolated drifts reaching a foot and a half, the impact was minimal.
