After a weeklong absence, the amateur hour screaming headlines from RIOC’s dazzling AVP Akeem Jamal returned. Here at The Daily, we beg you to tell the $150K rookie that nobody does that, nobody professional and experienced anyway. Do the research yourself. Do a search online. How many all-caps headlines turn up?

We’ve tried helping him along, and an actual experienced professional public relations guy is now on board. But none of us have gotten through. Maybe you can. It’s embarrassing having Roosevelt Island’s alleged representatives look so inept.

About the Screaming Headlines

We’ll make a concession on this version and not take issue with the fact that yesterday’s international press release was not shared with Roosevelt Islanders. Not just the media. With nobody.

The sad thing here is that Jamal and Haynes finally recognized “…the wonderful team at Thomas Fenniman Architects,” the real genius behind restoring the Roosevelt Island Lighthouse.

True, Team RIOC is still not big enough to acknowledge Susan Rosenthal, who initiated the project, Judith Berdy, its longtime champion and guiding spirit, or John O’Reilly and LiRo who oversaw all the work.

Instead, we get only “the RIOC team,” plus some names dropped of people who had little or nothing to do with the project.

For the Record

Appreciation deserved… After years of hope, money from Cornell Tech’s deal with RIOC paid for the Lighthouse restoration along with other projects. The Landmarks Conservancy tipped its highly respected hat to RIOC.

But the screaming headlines tell an alternative story. When President and CEO at RIOC, Susan Rosenthal lined up the restoration and allocated the money for it. Yet the sleazy SHELTON J. HAYNES headline can’t find even room for RIOC, let alone Rosenthal…
