Running a small business in Manhattan has always been a labor of love, but in today’s economic climate, it can feel like an uphill battle. Accessing smart business loans and affordable capital remains one of the biggest hurdles, especially for entrepreneurs from underserved communities. That’s why Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, in partnership with the Hebrew Free Loan Society (HFLS), is offering a game-changing opportunity: zero-interest loans of up to $60,000 through the Small Business Booster Loan Program.

What Is the Small Business Booster Loan Program?

This initiative provides interest-free loans to Manhattan-based small businesses, allowing them to invest in:

  • Rent and utilities
  • Payroll
  • Equipment and inventory
  • Marketing and outreach
  • Other essential operational costs

The program is designed to support lower- to middle-income business owners who may not qualify for traditional financing. HFLS, a non-sectarian nonprofit lender, has been providing interest-free loans to New Yorkers since 1892.

Learn More at the Upcoming Virtual Q&A

To help business owners navigate the application process and understand the benefits of the program, a free virtual Q&A session is being held:

  • Date: Wednesday, June 4
  • Time: 4:00 PM
  • Location: Online (Zoom)

Registration is required, click here to register. During the session, representatives from HFLS will provide detailed information on eligibility, application procedures, and how the loans can be used. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions live.

Real Impact on Local Businesses

Since its inception, the Small Business Booster Loan Program has disbursed over $2 million to support local entrepreneurs. Success stories include:

  • Nicole, co-owner of UpDog Studios, who used the loan to expand her fitness business in West Harlem and open a second location on the Upper West Side.
  • Two cousins from the Republic of Georgia who launched Sipsteria, a café and wine bar in Morningside Heights, now a cornerstone of their block.

Take the Next Step

If you’re a small business owner in Manhattan seeking financial support without the burden of interest, this program could be the boost you need. Register for the virtual Q&A session to learn more and take the first step toward strengthening your business.

RIOC projected Tram growth and OMNY would strengthen transportation revenue. Its latest accounts show the Red Bus and Tram both losing money, while the public is not shown one transportation bill.

The Red Bus is one of Roosevelt Island’s most popular public services, and for good reason. For residents near the subway and Tram, it may be a convenience. For residents at Manhattan Park, the Octagon, Coler and the northern WIRE buildings, it can be the connection that makes the rest of the Island accessible.
