Hello friends and neighbors — our big day is nearly here! With New York City Board of Elections confirming that Election Day for the 2025 general election is set for Tuesday, November 4, 2025, we’re all in this together.
What & When & Where
What: A general election in New York City covering key municipal offices including the mayorship, city council seats, borough presidents, as well as ballot proposals.
When: Polls are open on Election Day from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Where: Your polling station depends on your address — you can check via the Board’s poll-site locator or call 1-866-VOTE-NYC. (NYC Board of Elections)
For us islander the voting location is P.S./I.S. 217 – 645 Main Street, New York, NY 10044, with accessible entrance through the schoolyard (Exit 6)
Important Reminders for Our Community
- Bring your ID if required: Most registered voters in NYC don’t need to show ID, unless you did not provide identification when you registered.
- Be there early if you can: While polls are open until 9 p.m., lines can build — arriving earlier helps ease wait times.
- Still in line by 9 p.m.? You’re still eligible to vote if you arrived before the official close of polls.
- Know what’s on the ballot: Our previous coverage has spotlighted the mayor’s race, city council districts, charter reform proposals, and voting rights issues.
- Check your polling site ahead of time: Your early-voting location may differ from your Election-Day polling site— double-check if you’ve moved or changed address.
Why This Election Matters for Us on Roosevelt Island
Neighbors, this isn’t just another election. It’s one where our voice truly counts.
- Decisions made in city hall will shape housing, transportation, public safety, local parks and infrastructure — everything we rely on right here on Roosevelt Island.
- A strong turnout from our island community sends a message: we’re engaged, we care, and we will be heard.
- By voting, we help ensure our concerns — from ferry schedules to community programs — are represented.
Final Call to Action
So here’s what I encourage you to do today:
- Confirm your polling place.
- Set aside time tomorrow to go vote — bring a friend or neighbor if you can.
- Bring any necessary ID or proof of registration just in case.
- If you’re unsure about anything, call the number above or visit the Board’s website.
- And afterwards: take a moment to reflect with us at “The Beat” on how our community stepped up.
Thanks for reading, neighbors. It’s a privilege to cover our Roosevelt Island story — and it’s a privilege for us to help shape our future together. Let’s get out and vote. Our voice deserves to be heard.
Warmly,
Ericka O’Connell
