In a display window under Rivercross, the Roosevelt Island Visual Art Association steps out with the Window Project. Five RIVAA members create a tribute to the nonprofit’s logo.

The artwork blends blends into the ambiance along Main Street.
“Each artist picked one of the letter of RIVAA, and worked for the painting,” explains Toshiko Kitano Groner, one of the artists in the Window Project.
The 25-year-old artist cooperative maintains a gallery prominently at 527 Main Street, steps away.

The Line That Didn’t Land
I stood in the back of Good Shepherd Chapel on the evening of April 15, 2026, at the Steam Plant Demolition Town Hall, watching people adjust scarves and jackets before the meeting began. Benjamin Jones, President and CEO of RIOC, thanked us for attending and, without a pause, said he was “pleased to host tonight’s town hall on the city’s demolition of its steam plant.” The demolition, in other words, was not up for discussion.
