On short notice, the ever-secretive state agency changed the days for the RIDA Food Pantry. No reason given, and it’s not even clear that RIDA knows about it as they did not send out a notice of their own.

The Roosevelt Island Daily News

“The RIDA Food Pantry continues serving the community Thursday, December 1st, from 4 PM – 6 PM, at the Cultural Center (548A Main St.),” the notice said. Notice: 548 Main Street is ME, the Mediterranean Eatery, not the Cultural Center.

RIOC offered no reason for the switch, but speculation is that it avoids conflict with the Holiday Tree Lighting on Friday. That’s just a guess though because RIOC moved the lighting event up to 6:00 p.m. from the traditional, family-friendly 7:00, creating the conflict.

If there are any additional changes, we will let you know. Please share with your neighbors because RIOC Advisories have a limited reach.
