The Roosevelt Island Disabled Association (RIDA) operates the pantry, and its executive director, Wendy Hersh, says they will be back in business, this week. Everyone in need is welcome, no questions asked.
Update, March 30th, 2021: “The RIDA Food Pantry will be closed on April 2nd due to Good Friday. We will resume on April 9th…” Wendy Hersh, RIDA.
“Happy New year to everyone!” Hersh wrote in an email to The Roosevelt Island Daily/News.
“The RIDA food pantry will be opening back up on Friday 1/8/2020. Numbers will be given out from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in courtyard behind public safety. All are welcome even without a number. The line for the pantry will start at 3pm behind public safety office. Please remember to bring ID, wear a mask and make sure to bring a cart or large bag. Temperatures will be taken.”
Food is made available inside the CBN/RI Senior Center, thanks to the generosity of Roosevelt Landings management, assisted by RIOC PSD and The Carter Burden Network.

I do not usually write ahead of the week’s rhythm. Fridays suit an old woman. They allow time for tea, rereading, and the small mercy of correcting one’s own excessive cleverness. But this cannot wait for Friday.
