A Heat Advisory is in effect for today, running from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a high predicted topping out at 90. That comes with high humidity and an Air Quality Alert that expires at 11:00 p.m.
The Air Quality Alert indicates ozone levels exceeding a standard of 100, the point at which pollutants affect sensitive individuals.
Although no air quality concerns are yet registered for Thursday, the NWS elevated the Heat Advisory to an Excessive Heat Warning. The high will be around 93, but the Heat Index may reach as high as 107, triggering heat-related illnesses.
Stay hydrated and indoors with air-conditioning whenever possible.

As the Dust Settles
The way the wind cuts across the river this time of year. The way older buildings hold heat but never quite hold air. I told myself that was why my chest felt tight again on certain mornings. Age, perhaps.
