The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) has just released its 2025 travel advisory to make sure your cherry blossom visit to Roosevelt Island is safe and serene. Here’s what to know:

🌸 What to Expect During Roosevelt Island’s Cherry Blossom Season

As the Roosevelt Island cherry blossom season peaks, larger crowds are expected—especially on weekends. To keep the island safe and enjoyable:

  • Public Safety Officers (PSD) and the 114th Precinct will help manage visitor flow.
  • Parks may close temporarily if the island becomes overcrowded.
  • Clear signage will be placed near the Manhattan Tram entrances to keep things moving smoothly.

If you’re planning to visit Roosevelt Island for the cherry blossoms, weekdays or early mornings are your best bet!

🚆 Best Ways to See the Cherry Blossoms on Roosevelt Island

Subway Travel to Roosevelt Island

The F Train offers a quick and reliable way to experience the Roosevelt Island cherry blossom trees. It will run on a normal weekend schedule during the season. Visit mta.info/weekender for updates.

Roosevelt Island Tram

The Roosevelt Island Tram is scenic, but expect longer lines during cherry blossom season. PSD officers will be stationed at each stop. Before you go, check out the live Tram cam to get a real-time view: rioc.ny.gov/tram-cam

Roosevelt Island Ferry

A peaceful way to enjoy the cherry blossoms on Roosevelt Island is arriving by ferry. Service will run on regular weekend hours—check ferry.nyc for details.

RIOC Mini-Shuttle Bus (Weekends Only)

To support the influx of cherry blossom visitors:

  • Shuttles run hourly from Roosevelt Island to Manhattan from 11 AM to 7 PM.
  • Pickup is at the Tramway; return trips leave Manhattan at the half hour from 60th St. & 2nd Ave.

🚗 Traffic & Biking Rules During Cherry Blossom Season

Bridge Access Restrictions

If the island becomes overcrowded, vehicular traffic will be restricted to residents and essential workers. Entry is monitored at Vernon Blvd & 36th Ave.

Bicycles & Scooters

To protect pedestrians and the peaceful cherry blossom vibe, citations will be issued to riders who don’t follow NYC bike laws.
