Outdoor summer movies have always been popular annual events for Roosevelt Island. Before you know it, the season will be upon us, but first, RIOC‘s getting a head start on the fun.
The Roosevelt Island Daily News
A season of four movies is planned for this summer on Roosevelt Island, but RIOC is taking a new tactic. Instead of announcing the movies and their dates, it’s asking you to vote on what movies you and your neighbors will see.
Twelve family friendly movies are on the ballot, and you’re welcome to pick as many as you want. The winners will announced later. There’s even a place for you to make any comments about the movie series you’d like.
Vote here.
Rivercross and the Quiet Green Light
Rivercross privatization was enabled in 2010. This matters now because the same governance structures that allowed Rivercross to privatize without formal conflict controls are still in place. The same public authority oversees land leases, settlements, and redevelopment decisions that affect every resident on Roosevelt Island today.
