Following is AM Seawright’s message after earning the award.
“Thank you for your honor of the Humanitarian of the Year Award for the 24th Annual Awards Gala this evening. I send my deepest regrets and greatest appreciation as I accept this great honor from Albany.
“It is an honor to humbly accept this award for my work as an Assembly Member for the 76th District, representing the neighborhoods of the Upper East Side, Yorkville, and Roosevelt Island. It was a pleasure to welcome the J. Luce Foundation’s Young Global Leaders to Albany in June 2018, representing countries from Vietnam to Mexico!”

“Having seen first-hand what the Foundation means to these young people, I have the greatest respect for your work and appreciation for your leadership.
“I want to commend you for the foundation’s most recent initiative in the Complete Playground Family Center, which features a spacious, inclusive 40,000 sq. ft. indoor facility designed to foster the growth of children in a secure and nurturing environment. Ensuring safe and creative learning environments is imperative to early childhood development.
“This is an honor that I must share with my colleagues in the Assembly as we advocate for women’s rights, champion the public school system, defend the rights of senior citizens, protect the environment, improve public health, and reform elections and the courts.
“I am proud to report that, just this week, my legislation adding the Equal Rights Amendment to the New York State Constitution passed the Assembly.
“I look forward to our continued work together to fulfill your mission of supporting young global leadership to impact positive social change, in the fields of the Arts, Education, and Orphan Care. Thank you again for this great recognition as Humanitarian of the Year.”
