Although saying goodbye to those long, lazy days of summer vacation can be bittersweet, there’s a lot to look forward to in the fall.

From cozy fireside nights spent watching Netflix to days spent apple picking and hiking in the crisp autumn air, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Here are just a few of the reasons why we think autumn is the best season of the year.

The Joyful Slide Into Autumn

  1. The Weather Is Perfect
Not too hot and not too cold, autumn weather is just right. And what’s more, you can actually enjoy being outside without breaking a sweat
  2. Whether you’re going for a walk in the park or taking a hike in the mountains, autumn is the perfect time to get some fresh air and appreciate nature. Just be sure to pack a light jacket, as the evenings can get chilly.
  3. There’s So Much To Do
From carving pumpkins and decorating for Halloween to going apple picking and visiting a corn maze, there are endless activities to enjoy in autumn.
  4. And let’s not forget about Thanksgiving! Whether you’re spending time with family or friends, there’s no better way to celebrate the harvest season than by feasting on delicious food and giving thanks for all that you have.
  5. The Scenery Is Stunning
One of the best things about autumn is watching the leaves change color. From deep reds and oranges to bright yellows and greens, there’s nothing like taking a drive through New England or seeing Central Park covered in a blanket of leaves.
  6. So grab your camera and head outdoors—just don’t forget to pack your sunscreen, as the sun can still be pretty strong this time of year!

About twenty years ago, there was Harbor Police activity near the water, just south of the subway entrance. At the time, no one really thought of it as a pier, though technically there was a small boardwalk there. Of course it wasn’t a pier. A pier implies intention.
