“As the summer heat dies down the good work at Four Freedoms heats up,” a club announcement says. That includes its September meeting at The Sanctuary on Roosevelt Island. They want to bring our community into the bigger picture.
The Roosevelt Island Daily News
With stressors from politics to transportation swirling around Roosevelt Island, there is no better time for joining up with the Four Freedoms Democratic Club.

The evening starts with a half-hour of socializing with drinks and snacks before getting down to business at 7:30.
First on the agenda: “We’ll hear from local Roosevelt Island residents & leaders about current issues facing the island.”
That’s heavier and broader than it first appears because Roosevelt Island is increasingly in turmoil.
The evening wraps at around 8:30, but everyone is invited to stick around at The Sanctuary and socialize.
All About the Four Freedoms Democratic Club
The Four Freedoms Democratic Club (FFDC) is the political equivalent of a Broadway show in the heart of Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island. Inspired by the show-stopping “Four Freedoms” speech by Franklin D. Roosevelt, this club is more than just a political group—it’s a political extravaganza!
A political club based on a speech? Isn’t that like forming a book club around a tweet?
But this isn’t just any old speech. This is FDR — the man who could charm a room with his charisma, wit, and vision that would make even the most hardened cynic believe in a better tomorrow.
The FFDC is all about injecting a healthy dose of progressive values into the political landscape. Think of them as the political version of a green smoothie—packed with nutrients, good for the body (or in this case, the community), and surprisingly tasty!
In the concrete jungle where dreams are made of, the FFDC is a beacon of hope, striving to uphold the ideals of freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. They’re not just playing in the big leagues here—they’re redefining the game.
And let’s not forget their stomping grounds—the illustrious Upper East Side and the charming Roosevelt Island. It’s like setting up a lemonade stand in the middle of Times Square and selling out every single day. It’s all prime real estate.
But don’t let the lavish surroundings fool you. The FFDC is as down-to-earth as they come, committed to serving the community with a side of sass and a sprinkle of sophistication. They’re like the friendly neighbor who always has an open door, a listening ear, and a freshly baked pie ready to share.
So, if you’re tired of the same old political song and dance, why not check out the Four Freedoms Democratic Club? They’re mixing up the political cocktail with a dash of democracy, a splash of progressivism, and a twist of FDR’s timeless ideals. Bottoms up, Roosevelt Island – Wednesday evening at The Sancuary!
