The Metropolitan Transit Authority is preparing to bring reduced fare customers – seniors, disabled, etc. – into the OMNI system soon. You will be able to tap and go, just like everyone else – not for the Tram, of course, at least not for now. Here’s what the MTA is saying…

| Hello Reduced-Fare customer, We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well. We are writing to follow up on an important update on the Reduced-Fare program for OMNY, the MTA’s new contactless fare payment system. OMNY will start to roll out for seniors and customers with disabilities in our Reduced-Fare program this summer. Are you excited to tap and go with OMNY this summer? Please fill out this short form to let us know, and to make sure we have your most up-to-date contact information. OMNY is a contactless, account-based fare payment system. As a Reduced-Fare customer, when you switch to OMNY you will be able to tap onto the subway or bus with a contactless credit or debit card, smart device of your own, or an MTA-issued OMNY card. You will also be able to track your trips and manage your fare payments through an online OMNY account, if you choose. OMNY validators are installed at all NYCT subway stations and on all buses, and the Reduced-Fare program for OMNY is coming soon. As a senior or person with a disability in our Reduced-Fare MetroCard program, there is no need to complete an additional application or submit any documentation to make the switch to OMNY. Right now, you can simply complete this form to tell us you are ready to switch to OMNY as soon as it is available this summer. Please note that the form is only an expression of interest, submitting it does not actually activate OMNY Reduced-Fare privileges on your credit/debit card or smart payment device. Reduced-Fare customers should continue using their Reduced-Fare MetroCard at this time. We will notify you when you can make the switch to OMNY – look for an update in May. Reduced-Fare customers who want to use their own card or smart device to pay with OMNY will have multiple ways to switch to OMNY starting this summer. If you’d prefer an MTA-issued OMNY card, let us know so we can tell you when those cards are available. And, if you’d prefer to wait to switch to OMNY, no sweat, you have time! We’d still appreciate if you can complete the form so that we have your most up-to-date contact information.
